Queerlit accepts original short stories, comics and literary or personal essays by LGBTQ+ creators. We keep an open mind about pieces outside of those categories, as well, but we’re ultimately looking for queer stories: while we might accept a queer travel photo essay, for example, we do not accept queer book reviews.
What makes a good Queerlit piece?
We’re interested in pieces by LGBTQ+ creators, about LGBTQ+ themes or characters or settings. Otherwise, we just want good stories, across all genres! Give us realistic explorations of LGBTQ+ life. Or give us your speculative fiction pieces. More than anything, we want real characters and interesting ideas. Tell us the story you can’t not tell. Inspire us, or make us laugh, or make us cry, or give us hope or a great escape or make us see some part of life in a whole new way.
Email your submission (preferably as a PDF) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions must be the creator’s (or creators’) own work, to which you own the rights. If the piece has not been published elsewhere, great! If it’s been self-published elsewhere and you still have the right to let us publish it here, that’s also great! But if another website or publisher holds the exclusive rights to publish the work, we of course can’t republish without their permission.
Unfortunately we do not have time to give detailed responses or editorial feedback to rejected submissions, but we will respond to every submission we’re sent, accepted or not.
